Yeah, but they don't look after 'em as well as the TAFE

My thoughts exactly... Hence I chose not to buy from them this year... If I did not get some from Freo TAFE, I would have chose to buy from the Bedfordale guy over GP. Even if I had to pay more...

I think we should collectively support those in the industry that do the right thing.

Hi Fellas,

Do like I did, get your fingerlings at the end of the season and grow them over winter in a heated aquarium. Got 30 (50mm) in April, lost 3 settling in. Then watched as another runt was shunned out from getting at the feed. Then lost another when I transferred over to the large tank, so have 25 left, had no cannabalisation at all. Every time went past the aquarium couldn't resist giving them some food. (may be the answer). So now over 230grams (last time I weighed one and feeding on 9mm Skretting pellets, about 100 grams/day.......

Would I do it again, Too right

Sorry to hijack your for sale thread, but worth a mention.

It was a 5 Ft tank with 300W heater, had a bio-filter underneath (with bio-balls) The glass had 50mm poly styrene around it. Only kept the water temp around 22 deg, Hey this is the Sunshine Coast, suppose only got down to low teens a few times. Cost wise is hard to estimate, but elect account wasn't mind blowing.

Intend to start a thread on the whole experiment.

And that there is a lesson for anyone thinking of trying to heat/maintain heat in a tank...

And that was in an area with mild winter nights...

Hence the question Rupe :D

Its great that chainsaw can do it, but when your winter varies from 18degC through to 0 it makes it alot harder

I spoke to the guy at bedfordale about 4.30pm and he has plenty of barra 600-800gm for $15 each. He'll be there from 11am-4.30pm sunday. Hope that helps. Drew.

We haven't lost one of the Barra we bought from Bedfordale...

We haven't had any disease problems with fish from golden ponds, I think that's because we normally get fish during the week and larger quantities and they come from their aquaculture system in the big shed. If anyone has seen in the big shed they will know what I mean because the set up is big. The ones in their aquariums inside are neglected, and there's possibly some poor hygiene from the shop staff.
