Same here. they seem pretty passive so I wouldn't think you'd have any problems !

We still have them here in our DIY system and although they are very slow growing and susceptible to disease in winter, they are a very nice fish.....

I was talking to a mate in Wanneroo last night who has an AP system and he put 30 black bream in a couple of months back, but lost around 20 of them during the hot period last week.

So, after his experience and Joels, I'm not sure. Anyway here's the options as I see 'em;

- I've been very lucky

- I'm an absolute AP natural genius :roll:

- I have the best AP system in the world :twisted:

Mine didn't die and I followed my normal plan of doing nothing. :shifty: They came good after a while as the water warmed up, same as the ones I kept at home they would go a little sluggish and not the best over winter, but then pick up with the warmer weather. This may have had more to do with the fact that they didn't have any salt levels in the water.

Strange your mate lost them in the heat CD... :dontknow: And perhaps your right on all of the options there.....

Yeah, that's what I thought - yet his barra (separate tank) and SPs were fine, so a bit harder to attribute it to anything else.

I was really leaning towards the first, though I do have to say I'm not unhappy with the growth I am seeing in about half of them !

They are one of the most finicky of fish when it comes to water quality, a bit of a canary..... I lost all my big BB at home when the dog knocked the power cord out, SP and murray cod in the same tank were fine....

I love our bream, they are placid and have hung in there over 2 winters now.
(No competition to the trout though, they are in a league of their own.)

Where is a good place to get Bream fry / fingerlings in Perth? Also interested in the Tandanus catfish but not keen on shelling Out $25 at City Farmers
