Must be going to rain again, this one jumped out of the pool and onto the deck...they get frisky when the Barometric Pressure is changing...survived and back in with the rest.

180mm @ 120grams - nice, healthy looking fish.

Assuming this is the average weight, I'm getting a feed conversion ration of < 1.0 i.e. I haven't feed 200 fish 20 kg of food and they now exceed 20 kg in weight (minimal weight to begin with). They must be eating algae, leaves and what ever else falls in the pool. I only feed once a day - afternoon - which is a bit different to most?

Thanks Rupe.

Probably also worth noting that this Jade Perch is around 7 months old.

A lot fattier than most other freshwater fish... high in Omega-3....

Great for smoking & BBQ....

I was talking to Bruce from Ausyfish the otherday and he said that they need to be purged as such for the best flavour....The best way is not put them in a salt bath but to have them in a real clean mini system that has no algae and not to feed them for 3 days as this will give them the best taste... he was saying that this is what they are doing to the fish before sending them to market etc... They shouldnt loose much weight as they will use their fat sack to survive this period

we have had fish in the purge tank for weeks at times before we eat them

in fact, that is how we have 4 large fish left when everything else died in the big tank :( :)

they taste lovely, we tried a variety of cooking methods
whole baked - FAIL too oily, swimming in oil
pan fried - Not so good
    barbequed fillets - Fantastic :)
    grilled fillets - Fantastic
    oven baked fillets - Lovely

like most freshwater fish, they need some salt, but I love it :)
