Thats interesting Gav. Ive watched mine feed on the 5mm and a lot of the smaller ones (150-200mm) cant seem to get them down. They kinda suck it in and then spit it back out. Just my observations anyways.. :dontknow:

Yeah that would be right as according to those figures (which incidentally are those as suggested by Stuart Rowland the Silver Perch Guru) 150-200mm fish you should be using a 3 or 4mm pellet.

As for increasing the size of pellet as the fish get bigger the theory is that the fish will have to expend less energy to get their food so will therefore grow quicker. In a commercial aquaculture situation it may make a big difference but probably isnt real important in an backyard aquaponics situation.

Cool I've been wondering about larger pellet size for a while, I've stuck with the 3mm cos I can feed it to my tropicals as well.

My SP are 3years old and not interested in the big pellets. They love the 3mm but enjoy getting the large 10mm slugs and 20mm grubs :dontknow:
