Hey guys iv had two fish deaths from stupid fish that jumped out of my AP...

Anyone know why this is happing and what to do about it? (thinking of buying a net)

I just moved the trout yesterday from my moms place to mine (shes quiting ap thing)
and we found two dead fish next to her AP.

Now last night one jumped my ap system too and died... (lucky its still fresh and finery big enough to eat although still small)

My values before the trout moved in (i did buff my water afterwards my ph was to low and i think i got it right now).

ph 4 (of the scale hard to tell)
kh5
gh 7
N02 0
n03 100

My current water values:

PH 6.8
KH 5
GH9
n02 0
n03 100 ( a little high i know but right now iv only got 7 fish left and my plants love it so it should go down)

My system is an IBC AP system of about 800L with the top half of the ibc as my growbed (just a simple ibc system)
Iv moved it from my old place 3 months ago and have had it running empty for about two months now only added iron chelate and some urine to get the system started. Iv also buffed my system with kh and GH.

Its got nothing to do with your system, have a think how trout react in the wild, they swim hard, they jump for flies etc, jump over obstacles.

Train them to jump and sell to circus :) or more simply put netting TIGHT over the opening of your FT.

watch out with netting, it can gill them if the hole are the wrong size.

a barrier around the top will also suffice.
or lowering the tank water level.

I made a dome frame out of PVC pipe and put shade cloth over it on my tank.

Keeps the trout in and the sun out so the water doesn't go green.
