Post subject:  Red markings on side of my fish

Can anyone help with what this is. I only got them a few days ago and noticed this red markings on the side of my fish. Another one has the same. What is it and how can I treat it. I have slated to 6ppt or there abouts and done a nearly complete water change and resalted this morning. Any other ideas on how to treat them.

Cheers
John

What is the ammonia level in your tank? I've had problem with that before and it can cause red markings like that. (google it also, I might be wrong)

If it still doesn't go away you can hit them with potassium permanganate.
1-2ppm should do the trick. Wouldn't go over 4ppm, and be aware 6ppm will probably kill the fish.

Also, it will kill your beneficial bacteria as well, so cut feeding for a while and then build up feed slowly keeping an eye on your water parameters.

Hopefully someone with more experience than this loser can help you out, but it's pretty slow on here.

Good luck. Keen to see how you get on.
