Are you human?: Yup
Location: Perth hills.
Hiya Don, bsf are becoming more numerous as it warms up. If you have a compost bin I'm fairly confident you will see some bsfl in there.

Gday dbird

Like Skeggley said they should be prevalent in the SW of WA. The first year I tried to breed them I bought some from this site.

The next year I had dormant/hibernating lava & this year Ill just hang a fish frame over a bucket with core flue egg receivers around the edge & wait for them to turn up. If all I get is blow fly maggots them Ill just feed them to the fish. But as soon as they deposit eggs in the core flue your away.

It's not rocket science !

Hi dbird
Have you had any luck with the BSFL. I looked trough the research I did before & found this :
Quote:
The adult flies are photophilic and require strong daylight spectra as well as temperatures between 25°C and 35°C to encourage mating to occur.

So far I have only seen the common Blowfly but it is still a little cool around here in Geraldton.
