Various hatcheries have been listed for different states... what are you after?

If it's Silver Perch... give Monya a PM... or go to www.thefishfarm.com.au ...think he might have a few advanced fingerlings that were over wintered...

Cool. Now I know some one mentioned just spraying the plants with regular maxicrop or seasol mixed up as usual worked against aphids. However, I doubt ants would be deterred by the regular spray.

from ingredient list
Quote:
Beat-A-Bug natural insect spray is made from natural ingreadients like Garlic, Chilli and Pyrethrum,
I thought pyrethrum was very toxic to fish :?

We have used this succesfully, trialled and tested causing no harm to the fish. We used it on black aphids to the point of run off, the aphids were on chives in our aquaponic system and we had trout in the tank, they are still there.

Great... I should get a bottle then...
I have aphids on my lettuces for a while and I think they are spreading to the other new growth...

That sounds good, I wasn't game to try on my trout I had murry cod in the system I used it on. If its safe with the pyrethrum it might prove a little more effective than the BugGuard but it looks like they both are useful.

I used beat a bug last year and it did nothing. i've never seen any measurable success with garlic or chilli sprays. compared to the results from a decent spray it's rather disheartening - i tried it on my parsley that was starting to get infested and i think it just added a tasty dressing for the bugs. a week later i got a decent pyrethrium spray and the aphids were gone over night.
seasol/maxicrop works OK on small numbers of aphids, but if your system gets over run forget it - it seems to put them off a little and thats it.

the only control methods i'd had work for AP are to thin out your plants so it doesn't get over crowded and to use decent pest spray's on your plants around the AP area. weeds are a big one, if you've got lots of weeds in the garden around ap they act as a host. all that green lush growth that AP gets is like a magnet for sap suckers.

right now i'm at war with slugs and snails. i've used an iron based pellet so it's safer around the dog and tried to remove all their hiding spots, but i think i'll lose if we don't get some hot weather soon. coffee and beer were both failures, as was DE. the little buggers are going after my strawberries which is what's ticking me off the most. between the slugs, snails, birds and the dog eating them i'll be lucky to get any....

Timmy I'm not sure about beat a bug, but I can guarantee that BugGuard dealt with the worst aphid invasion I have ever seen, the bok choy was completely covered and dying back, it simply could not fit any more aphids, I had to spray daily for a few days but it definitely worked. I have had little success with home made chill and garlic sprays.
