If you check out his Facebook photos... (joined March this year)... and other photos on his website...

You can see the standard of his work... and knowledge.....

Hardly even got a system of any note himself... and is "teaching others"....

Sad... really sad...

I was about to teach yall how to crash his site but thats a little mean lol had a few bourbons :D

I also wanted to add alfcon if your reading this you need to do a lot more research otherwise as in the aquaponics arena you will get ripped to sheds because a lot of us take pride in what we have spent a lot of time learning.

I know that Nitrate can get to levels which are toxic to fish, but would have thought that Nitrite would have got them first which is why this made me laugh to myself:

Quote:
One of the biggest issues I faced with this new hobby was managing the toxic nitrate levels. Nitrates would build up and the only solution was a water change.

In a fish tank it is the nitrates that cause the issues, not nitrites. The filter bacteria removes them. Same as grow beds do in AP. But the nitrates have to be reduced with water changes. He is correct there.

I worry about his raft system, 39 plants, 600 litres, 42 Silver Perch and no other apparent filtration.
Wonder how many SP are still alive...

I still think nitrite levels would be elevated in an aquarium without water changes - at least this is what I experienced when I had an indoor tank.

I think his systems... particular his "demo" system... and his suggested "kitchen" build... will always have nitrite and nitrate problems....

And require constant water changes....as they're setup... right along with gravel substrates in the tank...as aquarium systems....

But I'm sure he's comfortable with that concept...as that is by his own admission... the sum total of his experience...

Yep... looks like a straight flow through system... no filtration... and no extra oxygenation...

Don't know how big then Silver Perch are... or how much he's feeding them.... presumably they're small, and he's not feeding them much at all at the moment...

And that's probably the only reason they're still alive... and the plants don't have root rot yet...
