Just a question.

Has the administrator of this forum looked into the setting of opening links in new tab?

Not a real big issue I know, but thought I would ask!

Cheers
Rob

As in you want them to force links clicked to open in new tabs?

i would hate this to happen, it would feel like some cheap 1980's website if that were the case.

Just use right click on a link to open in a new tab if you want to, at least in Firefox, I have no idea if it works in IE.

Yea I know it works like that with the right click. This is one of the only forums I am on that doesn't do it automatically.
Guess I will just have to remember this one is different.
It is just handy if you are part way through a thread and you click on a link to read that it opens another tab so you don't have to go back and find where you are up to.

I guess if more people prefer it that it opens in the window/tab you are in, best to leave it.

Every forum i have frequented takes you back to where you were when you click the back button, there should be no need to refind where you were.

I have only found it is the more "home made" / old and not updated forums that open links in new tabs, especially links that link to within the same forum.

It can get very messy very quickly and annoying having to close new tabs constanly, im very glad the forum is as it is.

I thought most sites default to open links in a new tab?

Yavi' I don't think they had multiple tabs in the 80's on windows at least.

most times when you click the link with the wheel it forces the link to open on a new tab.

I use a real computer with a Mouse.

What's a mouse? I think my dad used to have one of those

I'm a tap whore, I've got too many open most of the time. But I always get a eye twitch whenever I have a tab open I didn't want. And those clickbait websites, where you click to read their story, and they open up another website and leave the original page there. I'm aware it's unreasonable rage, but I can't control it, I hates it.

And for those without a middle mouse button, CTRL + left click on any link in firefox or chrome will also open links in a new tab

Also, for what it's worth:

ALT + enter in the browser address bar

..will duplicate the current tab in a new tab. Sometimes useful for reasons which evade me right now hehe

or in firefox google search box (top right), alt + enter will open the search result in a new tab. Useful if you want to really quickly google something and keep the current page open etc

In Chrome, type your search words in the address bar and press Alt + enter for the same effect
