Hi everyone! I am new to aquaponics and would love to learn more knowledge from everyone. Please guide me through. I have a small system which I am testing out with. It has been running for almost three weeks now. So far I have planted some lettuce and Thai basil and so far so good. Started out with 5 small goldfish in a 20 gallon bin, only 3 left. Do I need more fish?
My small family is currently living in Oakland California but all my family lives in Fresno. My wife said if I can show her that aquaponic can generate some income she is willing to move back to Fresno. I would love some tips from everyone about starting a small system to show her that it can work. I am planning to sell to local restaurants and local farmers market and maybe roadside. My parents owns 10 acres in Fresno and is willing to let me use a few acres if I like. But I have to show them some results first before they will help me out.
I come from a family of farmers. My parents have roughly around 100 acres of green beans. And a roughly about 40 acres of Asian vegetables.
What's the best type of system to grow green bean? Dwc? Flood and drain? I am planning to plant herbs and lettuce and stuff that chefs would want. Any idea on what type of system should I try first? And what the cost going to be around?
Also would I need a greenhouse if I live I. Fresno? It gets really hot during summer time 90-110.
Thank you all in advance.
