Aug 2017 will be my first full year w/ the set up.

Here are a couple of vids that describe my set up.

I'll post up some recent pics later.

I'm learning a ton just having a system. Seems i'm working/tinkering constantly. I haven't had too much difficulty raising plants or fish so far. I am trying to work through keeping the tanks "more clean" than they are now.

I think I'm imbalanced, I have too many little and too few established plants. Growing has been slow during Dec-Feb so far, I know the troubles of a so cal winter.

some November to February Pics

I have since harvested the cauliflower and lettuce, peppers, basil.

In Feb I replanted more lettuce and variety.

Well get more pics posted.

Fish so far look good and healthy. Always something to tweak. Next on my list is to buy a new pump to help remove some of the fish waste and try and clear up the water.

Thanks to tuning in.

Since last post, I've been working the dirt garden a lot. The AP project is WAY less work. Hardly any weeds. Still have to work the old media, clean it up from harvested plants.

However it happens, my AP beds are full of red worms. I'd guess into the thousands?

All is well with water quality. so well that fish feel comfortable enough to breed. I can't imagine the new fry have a chance. Those tilapia are like piranha, they go after anything that moves in the tank. I guess I need to try and scoop them out when I see them and raise them in a smaller tank.

The summer AP garden is going well. I added a swirl filter infront of the over-flow to the NFT trays. I found too much crap getting pumped into NFT trays. They'd stink and the plants in the NFT trays would have crap in the roots.

Looks like I'll still have to maintain the cleanliness of the NFT by taking apart and washing clean. I'm over stocked for sure. I have about 10 lbs of fish in the 100 gal tank and maybe another 4-5 lbs (smaller juvies) in the 50 gal tank.

I run a swirl filter and media filters 24x7 in the 100 gal tank to keep the tanks clear and less poopy. I wash those dirty media filters in a bucket and pour that into the dirt garden.

So far everyone loves it.

Thanks for reading.
