Hi everyone

been reading here for about 4 months now and i started my system about 2 or 3 weeks ago
and as so i have a few pictures for everyone

my "fish tank" has 10 comet goldfish in it at the moment and they have been there for about a week
i jump started my system with seasol and by washing my aquaium filter out in the system water for the first week
my system is from mostly things i had laying around i have only had to purchase the growbeds and the expanded clay balls im using and some screws to remake a picnic table for the grow bed stand

will add some pictures soon
Mal

i had to retake the shots of the setup as i am unable to shrink the size in photoshop for some reason

i havent got any noticable growth yet maybe with the next week and the warm days were having might improve things too ( about 30C air temp today )

i have got the news too :| i have to move in 2 weeks time so the system will need to move too

glad i havent got any really serious fish in the system yet, was looking at adding some silver perch and yabbies in a little while ( when the pH drops a bit ) hopefully before christmas but now im not so sure

any tips for moving ? besides taking as much water with you as possible and trying to decholinte some water at the other end first so that you can fill the system backup straight away

hope you enjoy the pics the system isnt much to look at but hopefully in the new place i can make it prettier than it is now and add another freezer into the system so i can add more grow beds and to give me more room for other types of fish too

Mal

Hi Mal - welcome.

Most of us use Microsoft's Image Resizer. It is available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Down ... rtoys.mspx

When resizing your pics, choose small.

Paint.NET is a bit more advanced version of the above, has a few more options.

If your moving soon you may want to do a few water changes to bring the Ammonia down. How far is the move.

Water changes can slow the cycling down though.....see how it goes, that ammonia isnt really really bad yet, not for goldies anyway :cyclopsani:

 What would you call really really bad.... there aren't anymore graduations on the scale....

Stop feeding for two days... and change 50% of your water immediately....

You can still see through the test tube.

None of my fish (goldies and tropicals) died through that.

Want to go with OBO on this one. Mainly because those colors look really familiar and nothing died. But that is a very dark green

I'd be more concerned about the nitrite.

Yeah, they might be goldies... they might be tough... they might not have died....

But it's just not good water management.... or good practice to do anything but a water change....

And I'm certainly not going to recommend otherwise....

A rubber duck might survive in that water.... but I'd have just as much pity on it....
