Hi, my name is Mark and I happened upon aquaponics this past week and fell in love. I am reading and researching as much info as possible. I plan on starting my own system in a month or two. Thanks to everyone for sharing your wins and losses.

Welcome Mark! I'd like to run an AP system in Bakersfield, if I couldn't have one here. Got a lot going for ya there, weather, feed stores, etc.
Wow, if you're in your first week you have an amazing time just ahead of you. For me it was the biggest Rabbit Hole moment of my life!
Tell us about your proposed site. Backyard or balcony?
Rick

It will be a backyard system, but that is all I really know right now. I am new to the area so I am still learning the weather and plant life for this area. I am also not sure what fish would be good in this climate. It gets really hot here in the summer but it gets cool to cold in the winter season. So knowing which fish will survive the change in climate I am still researching.
My thought is, I will need to dig out the FT and let the ground heat and cool the water in the tank for me. Also has anyone tried to bury their water pipes for a more constant water temps?
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark,
I am also in Bakersfield, just stumbled onto AP myself and will be piecing together a system post haste. I see your posts were from 2010, did you ever pursue a system?
Cheers!
