Did you harvest some perch Gaz? Give Col's steam jobby a go, its really nice. I just pulled a few out today and will be steaming them up for dinner tonight.

Has anyone tried them as sashimi yet?
a simple recipe - fillet, season, flour, fry in shallow oil till flesh is just set.
Place on clean plate, rinse the cooking pan and sling a large knob of butter in, heat till it starts to fowm, when the foam bubbles get very small and change colour pour in the juice of a lemon plus a heaped dessert spoon of chopped parsley/corriander and instantly tip it over the fish.
If you burn the butter sling in a dessert spoon of chopped capers instead.

Well I didn't want to be left out so here is my attempt at steaming SP. What a sensational recipe! Will definitely be doing this again.

That said, I have found both fish I have cooked so far to have a 'taste' that does not appeal to me. I will try purging the rest to see if that helps.

Does anyone know if I grabbed a 200l drum, salted to (7ppt)? and ran an air bubbler, could I purge fish in there for a week without extra filtration?

If you had been feeding them up until you caught one out and then cooked it would have a bit of a muddy taste. If you dont feed for a few days whilst they are in your main tank Ive found the 'taste' to subside. That having said, if you did that, than put them in a barrel with aerator and not feed for another week on top that it should be even better again. No filtration required.

I fed the fish in the morning and harvested this one at lunchtime. No off flavours and I got the tick of approval from the judge.
