Any idea what I'm missing that would cause the stems of everything I grow, from lettuce to beans, to be really fragile and frail? Bean is running all over the place and I'm training to a string lattice but if I'm not really careful, the stems snap very easily. Also, sprouts are very weak and most of the time just lay over then regrow upwards with a loop of stem acting as support on the gravel instead of the stem embedded in the gravel... Some mineral or something? |

How old is your system? Hows your sun light? |

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's indoor without enough light. Sounds like leggy plants. |

They grow like mad. I have a large nickel metal hydrid (spelling?) grow light and also a 400watt equivalent flouresent light over the 4 foot square grow bed. The leaves all look healthy, dark green, only a bit of yellow on the older leaves on the bean plants. When I say they grow like mad, I mean almost a foot in length each day for the beans and I get handfuls of lettuce every day and still losing ground on them, going to have to bundle up some for neighbor, hehe. |
