Interesting that you identify different feeding levels... I wonder if they have a species preference..
I would have thought that roots would simply seek a nutrient level and water level..

I'm about to plant similar in my beds..

Nice. Whats your water pH ? I have some raspberries and blackberries in soil that are struggling, read they prefer a low pH. I would love to toss them into one of my grow beds !

You have to understand the roots and feeding habit of plants that you use in your grow bed some plants have to much roots for grow bed look at my picture on blackberry growing in grow bed 3 years .roots of blackberry feed 3 to 4in. Deep. I lower water level in winter I don,t know how long they will stay in grow bed. Picking blacking berry now.

well that is a challenge read..

and I note that Blue Berries need a pH of 5.5, and we want them at their best..

I'd like to see a comparison of your berries, compared to somebody who just dunks them in there and leaves it.

It's the first time I've heard of somebody moving the roots around so they are at a certain part of the bed. I'd have thought the plant would figure out for itself.

I tried them, but I think my pH is too high for any good growth with them.

From what I understand raspberries feed from one in to 20 in down they may use the level of the roots for deferent things but I think that they have to have the top roots for deferent things if the water level is to high they may die so that is why I raised my grow bed to 20 in the water drops about 4 to 5 in from plant I have a way of moving it around the bed. I top the plant 10 days ago it is starting to shot side branches. We will see will send pictures in about 30 days.

bought a Loganberry and Raspberry yesterday and just planted them this morning, thinking everything will be ok.
now I have to worry that I bought clever ones who know where and how deep to go to get the water...
maybe I should have given them an intelligence test before i bought them....

Its hard enough getting things to grow normally, damned if I have to teach them as well...

Can i ask how you found out about preferred root levels.??
