I've been throwing around this Moringa in more than a few threads:) Time to get it together.
Here's a link to start with about the basic properties of this "Tree of life"

http://www.enviro.org.au/article_moringaTree.asp

I'll add many more shortly , including its benefits for fish animals AND humans as a food source ,, it's ability to clear murky water ,, it's rapid growth , its wonderfull benefits as a folliar spray for your other AP plants.

It's a winner.

I got some seeds from Echo the other day and have planted them in some worm castings in my nursery bed. Once they get going I'll have to figure out where best to plant them out.

Any ideas on how best to overwinter them in a sub-tropical climate? What about for those people in a more temperate climate?

They are good to near zero Celsius ,, originate from the lower Tibet area. Warmth will be a major plus on growth rates , but they will survive even moderate frosts.

They grow really well from cuttings ,, so you will have a life-time supply. Cuttings should be a branch about 2cm diameter ,, then keep them short by cutting hard and they will branch out , in irrigated fields they have shown fantastic production planted at as little as 10 cm apart when grown this way.

I sought to buy a plant a while back, but the only source of plants that I know (though I'm sure there are many more) was Daleys and they were and still are out of them (I think).

Seeds seem to be readilly available, so I guess I should just pull my finger out and go down that path. Does anybody know a good source in Australia for plants or seeds?

VB,
I expect you may just have to do a search and see who even has those seeds to sell around there. I sometimes find it difficult to source specific exotic plant material or seeds.
This is where I got my seeds from but I don't know if that would be of any help to anyone else.

They're in WA but charge $3.30 each packet and $5 shipping

Yeh - found that one when I did a search a while back. Nearly filled out the form but then got lazy.

Idealy I'd like a plant. Would save a lot of time. I might give Daleys a call.

Somebody asked about the invasiveness of Moringa. I think it may have been Faye.

I found this link discussing its habits in Australia: http://www.weeds.crc.org.au/cropweeds/crop_weeds_m.html#bennut

in short, I don't think it's a problem

This is a much better way to do it Chappo :)

Whats the best way to feed it to the fish?

Outback ,, Just pull the leaves , you can shread a little if you like , and throw in the pond. It's good if you let the leaves wilt a little ,, say harvest in morning and leave in the SHADE till afternoon , it helps concenentrate flavour / protein , this is not so important for feeding to fish but we do this in Thailand where we feed to our cattle and chickens as well as Tilapia.
I suggest the first few times you give it to the fish when they are extra hungry , it may take a little while for them to get use to the new feed source.

Hunted down some plants for those that don't want to wait for seeds to grow,.....

Guys, It dawned on me today that I have been sugesting the food by weight percentage that we use for our cattle ,,,30%. For the fish it is 10% before any drop in growth rates compaired against straight fish-oiled pellets.
Apologies for misleading.
