Has anyone tried pure coconut juice in AP for a potassium boost for flowering/fruiting crops?

Ive read it has potassium levels much higher than a typical banana.

Hi,

Apparently dried apricots has best potassium content:

http://www.healthaliciousness.com/artic ... fruits.php

Banana is only 8 in this list. Dried coconut is listed at 6.

This other list indicates some other food products having much higher potassium content:

Cheers,

There was a study a while back that coconut milk (which may be what you're talking about... the pulp is macerated and pressed, the liquid from that is sorta milky) significantly increased yields in wheat crops. It has a lot of fat in it though, so might not be good for AP?

If you're talking about coconut water (the liquid inside the coconut that you can access by just opening the coconut), it should have similar effects since the suspected cause of the increase in crop yields above was the cytokinins contained in the coconut milk. These also exist in the coconut water.

Coconut water can be used as an IV drip... that labels it as 'harmless' in my book. I'd go for it and bet on positive results!

The kefir we have is made from coconut water. Today I am going to buy more coconut water to culture more kefir.

If you're interested in making your own kefir Ron, search for "Tibetan mushrooms", the taste is like Greek yoghurt but a lot stronger and more sour. Bit too strong for me.

.....perhaps this is what you already use???

This kefir is an effervescent liquid, meant to be more of a supplement than a food.

Why not add sulphate of potash aka potassium sulphate K2SO4? It'd probably work out cheaper in the long run too? From memory, it's pH neutral and contains no (or very little nitrogen).

But potassium sulphate K2SO4, potentially loads the system with sulphates...

Kill two birds with one stone... pH buffer, and Potassium boost... EcoFungicide (Potassium BiCarbonate).. or Caustic Potash (Potassium Hydroxide).... alternate with slaked lime (Calium Hydroxide)
