All the sweetcorn seeds I've bought in Perth are coated with some red stuff I don't want anywhere near my AP system.

Does anyone know where I can get seeds without, and also is the red coating some WA quarantine requirement?

If you cant find any organically grown seeds from the various suppliers, you could just buy a cob of organic corn, hang it up to dry, and get your seeds from that.

Might have to do that G - Just spoke with a nursary who reckons ALL sweetcorn in wa is coated with an anti fungal treatment - even organic ones! Wonder if I germinate them in soil and then transfer seedlings to AP beds after a wash whether that will be ok...

Hi Matty

I germinate mine in punnets filled with perlite, standing in water from my system.
Once they are strong growing and the roots are around 15cm, i wash of the perlite and plant them in grow beds. By this time the original seeds are all gone

+1
Good idea Gabe, I think this is what I would do if I couldn't find untreated seeds.
