i haven't been fishing in at least 15 years, but finally got out on lake erie 2x last week, and today..
hauled in several small white bass that we were probably towing for a while, they were too small to trip the downriggers or dipsey divers... last week we got 2 strikes from steelhead trout but one didn't get the hook set in time, the second time the drag was too tight and the line snapped
we were ready to call it a day today, after more white bass, a small crappie and a 10" yellow perch i kept..i was hauling in one of the dipsey's and got a hit.. set the hook and then it was a matter of just dragging it in.. they say walleye fight like a log..

dinner tonight.. i'll lightly fry the cheeks in butter (they call the cheeks fresh water scallops.. super tasty)
i filletted the walleye and the yellow perch,, probably pan fry with seasoned breading, but maybe i'll smoke them.. i skilled the yellow perch this time, i usually scale and leave the skin.. the wsalley i always skin..
2lbs of meat for dinner.... i'll try to snap a couple pics when i cook

My favorite tasting fish. It's been awhile but we found Leeches worked pretty well to catch Walleyes and you didn't have to mess with Northerns like you would baiting up with Minnows.

Cheers

Looks tasty. I'm originally from Michigan. It's been decades since I fished the Great Lakes, I miss that.
