Went out again this afternoon but the yabbies weren't as plentiful. Dunno if it was a moon thing or what the hell. Lots of boats there so maybe they are getting thinned out already.
Gonna try another lake Sunday.

Went to another lake today with a mate and we maxed out getting our allowed 30L of yabbies each. I peeled the lot of my half in just under 2 hrs and ended up with 2.1KG of meat. Yabby sandos for lunches this week me thinks YUM :D

Nice haul. When you eat them, you just get the tail and claw meat, correct? I've had crayfish tail before and it was yummy, but I'm not sure I would be up for cracking the carapace and sucking out the insides like I've seen some people do.

What do you guys use for traps? Do you make your own or buy them pre-made? I saw an old Chinese woman catching crays at one of the lakes when I was a kid. She just tied a piece of chicken to a rope and slung it out in the water. Every 20 minutes or so she would pull them in and there would be 5-10 crays latched onto the chicken, munching away. I caught a whole heap at the same lake using a fishing pole and some catfish bait, but traps seem a whole lot more efficient.
