It's time to announce the shop is open. Some of you already know, and some of you don't, but a couple of months ago I took out a lease on a closed down nursery. Since then things have been full steam ahead in getting some demonstration systems up and running, as well as the myriad of other things that need to be done around the place. The shop is on the corner of Berrigan Drive and Jandakot Rd in Jandakot.

There's still an incredible amount of work to do around the shop, the signs are meant to arrive tomorrow, and organizing where everything is to go is taking a lot of trial and error. What do you know, there isn't much in the way of other aquaponic shops to base layouts on, in fact as far as I know this is the first aquaponics shop in the world that is open full time to the public.

Over the past couple of months theres been a fair bit happening. A student from Murdoch university has started a project here at the shop using three small single bed systems to trial the differences between fruiting plants, leafy greens, and a control system with no plants. The project received it's final approval earlier this week when their animal ethics person came down to have a look at the systems and talk with us. The initial project is only over an 12 week period but hopefully this can be extended and expanded upon in the future. Anyway, I'm sure Faye wil be starting a thread about it in the near future.

So, on Friday the 28th of December the shop is officially going to be open. :) There will probably be a more "Grand opening" some time in the new year when everything is finally sorted out, but for now I thought it would be nice to get it open, and see if anyone wanted to come down and have a drink and a chat seeing that it's "that" time of year.. So if your free on Friday, pop down sometime between 3 and 8 in the afternoon/evening and say g'day. The bbq will be on with some chicken and sausages and there might even be a couple of fish thrown on the barbie. Nibbles and drinks including beer, soft drinks and juice will also be provided. :D

Joel get some really good transport deals for all of Australia. Don't want to limit your market. Great set up. I wish you and your staff all the best. Wish I lived in WA I would want to work in the shop. Oh Well.

Looking Good EB and with a prime corner location I am sure you will create lots of interest from passing traffic once your signs go up.
Will make an effort to drop in next time I'm in Perth.

Congratulations Joel and Faye on the wonderful setup - yes, I too noted the professionalism of the lab tech, right down to the latex use :D

I'll have a cold one here and be thinking of you all on the 28th

Good work Joel - if only WA was a bit closer. I thought you hated lab coats ;-)
