There is a hydro store on Dorset rd near London Drive Bayswater.

Extreoxy there are a lot of aquaponic systems up and running in Melbourne and not too many people would have imported the materials to build them.

Google is your friend, try the link below.

thread barging for a minute...please excuse me.

Why is it there are large numbers of hydroponic shops around but very few aquaponic ones, when we all know what the mass of hydroponic growers grow :D herbal tomatoes oh dummy me of course. :)

The number of times I have gone into hydro shops and, well, the atmosphere is not exactly welcoming, I feel like Iam entering somewhere I shouldnt be....(bit like going into adult bookshop for your first time).
Tell them you need something for your aquaponic system and its 'oh sure mate'

As someone who owned and ran an AP shop for many years, in fact the first and only one for many years.... Why aren't there more AP shops? Because there isn't the market to support it. Because people will come into the shop to get all their information then walk out buying nothing, to go shop at bunnings or online trying to save themselves $1.26. Because people want to buy everything online, because people would rather try and band together with others and buy bulk feed etc direct from wholesalers rather than support a local shop...

Same reason small supermarkets and local corner stores have all but died out because people shop at coles/woollies/aldi...

Yup!...

You can spend an hour with a new customer, provide them with a wealth of information, then they walk out without buying a thing. That in itself is fine, but then they'll return a month or two later, having built their system without buying a single thing from us, or worse, bought it off a guy on Gumtree who builds systems out of his backyard, tax and overhead free, and who's told them their new single IBC system can support 20 or even 30 fish... Asking me for more free advice to help them with their underperforming system or dying fish.
