where to get supplies

Hi guys, just chasing a bit of info if I may? Best places in Brisbane for AP supplies. I got some expanded clay today from a local Hydroponics shop. I am on the southside. Got my first barrel system setup today, no fish yet. I'm very new to AP so I'm treading lightly for a while. :wave:

Hi Pete, welcome, i am Gold Coast but not aware of any AP shops in our area. What supplies are you after??

What about Murray Hallam's Practical Aquaponics in North Maclean?... out through Browns Plains if you're southside of Brisbane... not too far from Gold Coast either Kitacooch, a nice Sunday drive over Mt Tambourine!

Depends what you want, will pay extra purchasing from Murray.

Pipe and fittings, any plumbing or hardware store.

Bulk feed, there is a supplier out near Tingalpa .called Big Nutrition. Have to buy 25 kg bag Check their wesite and give them a call.

The Age of Aquarium is at Browns Plain. Check there web site

Uniseals, google and their phone number is on the page. Give them a call. Grat mob to deal with and if you pick up will save you the postage.

Pump, Ebay or the A of A or Hardware stores.

Use the search engine on this site or google and check out Earthern Group as well, Paul is very helpfull cheers

Thanks for the tips guys, Don't need anything in particular just yet. I have just set up a one tub system for my first try so that's all set up minus fish and plants. But I will certainly check the phone numbers and web addy's thats a great help.

I grow all my veggies in the ground at the moment but water is the problem. We need rain badly.
My problem is if I get down on the ground to do something I can't get vertical again.

The same 2 reasons were behind my decision to get my AP system underway, after 2 or 3 years researching and reading this forum.
We had to abandon the dirt garden last summer due to too many days around 40C and very little rain, and our only water supply falls from the sky here. It was either stop watering the dirt garden, or start buying truckloads of water- quite an expensive proposition, and the town water tastes like cr@p due to the chemicals in it.
Harvesting all my vegies with no bending over or dirty knees is awesome :thumbright:

I will need a ladder to get to the top of the mass of peas though

Thanks Pete Wolfe, it has been quite a build lol.

ccBear nailed it, but i never knew Murray had a shop down this way, i thought he was north QLD.

I might add that you get fish from SEQ Fish 10 min from Yatala or you can mail order them from Aussie Fish.

I am looking for a local supplier for eco-rose and or a trace elements mix if anyone can help.

Hey ccBear, i emailed Big Nutrition but they never relied, i wanted to know if i need to use the Aquponics feed or if the cheaper STD native feed would be fine?? Which one do you use??

Ohhhhhh, i saw the Eco-Fungicide, and i asked the staff if it was made by the same people and they didnt know, and you tell me it is the same stuff lol.

Any ideas on trace elements??? i just grabbed a pack of trace elements pond plant feed for now, but very commercial and expensive for what it was.

I use Ridleys from Narangba as it is closer. Have been using 4 mm native which floats and a 6 mm marine which floats and sinks. I have contacted them but it took a couple of days to reply. Price was a bit cheaper than Ridleys but $50 freight to my place was a loser.

Mate I just use a seaweed extract once a month.

Ok cool, so seasol will provide the trace nutrients we need.

So no need to the Aqua Pac (aquaponics fish feed)?? Its 4kg for $30 or can get STD feed 20kg $60.

Ha ha you sound like another "Old Fart" like me. A big yes on the ladder and the peas. I have 2 lots going now but I don't need a ladder. A lot of my veg I grow in old wash tubs that very soon could be grow beds. I have daikon radish growing about 400ml long so not doing to bad.
