Hi everyone, :wave1:
I'm new to aquaponics, and the forum and if you've read anything I've posted you'll see I've had some issues.
:support: :( :funny1: :support: :? :dontknow: :support: :shifty:
I've noticed quite a few people on here from the area to which I was happily surprised.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone would be interested in :?: popping the kettle on and showing me around your systems and set ups?
I'd love to hear your horror stories and your joyous ones.
Maybe we can exchange ideas, product knowledge (not that I know too much yet)
Or maybe we could ALL get together and do a tour of everyone's aquaponics set ups in the area. :thumbleft: :thumbright: Ok that might be a little much. (But if its a plan, I'm in) :thumbleft: :thumbright:
Have a local aquaponics group? :thumbleft:
Just thoughts.
At the very least I was hoping to get some local knowledge on the best places for equipment, fish, plants and any other useful knowledge you might have, like places to avoid, what grows well in the area etc. As I wrote at the start I'm new to this so happy to take anything and everything you've got.

What is the difference between BeeKeeping, and Aquaponics.. other than the obvious..

BeeKeepers have clubs and hold field days and inspections, and these provide an introduction vehicle for new members..

I think it would be a good thing to form an aquaponics group, and that could be under another compatible group, eg.. Hydroponics, or Sustainable Living or. Or ..
Contact you local Council about environmental groups that you cold approach, but don't trust them to actually know..
Ie.. I belong to an official Council sponsored group (not AP) and when an interested person ask, they were told - "no such group"
..

..
Another thought.. It seems that a great many APer's just do it and don't talk about it..
SO... there are likely MANY more than you even know.. Old Farts like me (but I talk too much  )

Get onto an Old-Farts radio station and ask them to make a community announcement for Like Minded people in AP and HP to make contact.. or ring in to a Talk-Back station..
Perhaps an Easy-To-Remember email address.. We never have pen and paper handy

Gauge your response from that..

As I said, many more just DO, rather than talk, and so it may still be a problem..
Q- "WHY, why would I join another club :dontknow: ".
A - Because they may have something to teach others and that would be their greatest incentive - to get involved. :thumbright:
.

Thanks for the ideas.
I came across aquaponics by accident, chance or fate whichever you prefer and have just jumped straight in.
Now I wish I knew more and had someone to help guide me and talk to about it, the ups and the downs.
