Hello

The following is my idea for a Ram Assisted Air Lift Pump (fishtank/sump version).

My thinking is, as a small air bubble passes the U bend it momentarily reduces pressure in the main chamber, which results in water flowing in through the long horizontal feed tube. This water has a lot of momentum so when the pressure equalizes it will continue to fill the chamber. This should mean instead of small bubbles slowly leaking round the U bend one by one, a big bubble will be pushed out by the inrushing water.

A restriction in the small vertical feed tube may be beneficial so that low pressure in the output tube is met mostly by the larger horizontal feed tube.

Thanks Rufe0

Check out geyser pumps; I think you just re-invented one. :)

After a few beers I still don't think this will work as you assume. Mind its fairly convoluted trying to work out what the effect of direction change and converging flows will have.
I am not opposed to new designs but either the physics etc or the, *frack* you I did it and it works and here it is with pics really helps. :)

Yep you should try it. Let us know how it works. I have a simple air lift pump on my SLO. That works. Dialing in the flow can be a challenge.
