Yep I love the home brew. Try and brew some different styles but DH tends to drink them as soon as possible. Then he complains about tummy troubles (you get that if you drink a green homebrew, duh!!!)

Have a thermostat for my brew fridge on the shopping list so I can brew in summer - it's been stinking hot and ridiculous lately so I haven't put anything down.

Aiming to get a few grolsch-style lager clones in as soon as the thermostat is purchased - have a lovely brew shop run by a very knowledgable fellow and he does all sorts of part-mash and full mash kits up for sale.

I was thinking maybe a coffee stout (once i get this darn thermostat LOL want it to be nicely aged by then so I'll have to get a move on!)
And then a few light lagers, and hopefully a wheat beer or two - picked up a taste for those at Hahndorf the other weekend. Talk about perfect for quaffing in 38 degree weather!
I'm banking on sampling some of your cider there Jaymie!
And if I'm truly organised, perhaps I'll bring up some dark'n'stormies made here rather than in QLD.... if I'm organised enough anyway!

Well my plan for the ap get together and sharing the last of the cider was to get a number of people or at least just me enthused enough to do some more this year.

The plan worked and I'm now enthused and possibly KP as well. I ve been picking and I now remember how much fun it is. Underneath my chestnut tree I've now got at least 200kg of apples and they smell great. They are mostly high acids but I know where two more trees are, one sweet and one tannin. With those that should be enough.

I answered no because I have never made Beer Wine or Cider but would really love to soon, but I have made my own Blackberry Liquer. Its not really a technical process its just boiling down and straining the Blackberry and the adding vodka and brandy and bottling. Its not bad think I would not add as much brandy next time though.

Ready to bottle a batch of ginger beer in a few days time? Added some extra ginger for a bit of bite in this one.

Looking good, image attached showing the traditional "Cheese" built with barley straw, each layer is about 6" thick, all straw is teased out from the centre so the majority is facing in the same direction, once we have loaded enough pummy the straw is folded over and held in place with a large shovel of pummy.
Hope that makes sense.

It looks a lot harder to get right than if you use a cheese cloth. If you stuffed up and had a blow out it would be a bit of a mess and waste.
