How about 3" x 4" vinyl downspout?

Matala media is 1-1/2" thick, so you could cut 4" wide strips and they'd fit perfectly in this stuff. The zip grow towers are 4" x 4" PVC fence post. These would be an inch narrower, but probably fine for strawberries.

I came across the gutter guard filter foam mentioned previously in this thread and am going to have a crack at it. Eventually want to do a few DIY vertical towers, and matala seems best option, but not cheap, especially when wanting to test out one or two. This product was on special for $15 at a closing down hardware store, so I bought the only two pieces. Will be using guitars guide!

Will post on cost and effectiveness!

Cool thanks, have seen it before. I like using a foam, as it is much lighter, which fits into plans. Issue is foam aint cheap! :banghead:
