Some barrels in place - compliments to rocketrods idea of hoop iron underneath
Now the pipe has to be laid and wood panelling
Thinking of using upright old hardwood decking Image

This is looking fantastic. I love the way the sump sits in the middle underneath. Reminds me of the bilge of a wooden ship. Very creative setup.

How would one effectively wash clay balls?
I was thinking a laundry basket by it would get pretty mashed by the end of 25 bags

The best thing I could come up with was to loosely stretch some shade cloth over a wooden frame and suspend it somehow (crappy folding ladder). That way you can kinda shuffle the whole batch back and forth as you wash it down and I also kinda raked it around with a broom. I found the stuff I bought was fairly heavy with fines and needed 4-5x of the above to have clear water come out. There's a pic of what I mean in my system thread.

Just FYI, my patio was brown for weeks, even after successive washing :D

Started work on standpies and media guards

Used a plastic wheel on the grinder to thin the wall of the barrel - then put uniseal through end cap and barrel - works!!!

Question - how long should I make the horizontal pipe underneath if I want to run bell siphons?

Thanks for the tip on the gravel washing - perfect!! will do tomorrow ImageImageImage

tagging along, I love the under ground sump. Got me thinking about my system now because I only have a 40 gallon sump isn't nearly big enough for my system, can't do F/D with my system.

Great shapers those paint removers are. They work for wood as well.
