Thanks Brian. You know how it goes, you somehow start something, you do not get the drift of it and so it just hangs around and becomes a pain in the ars.
Then you get the drift and it just goes.
Did the concrete pad after work. What a misserable day, 40 mph winds. Dust storm, Arizona on the move.

We have a deranged person in the county, who goes around with a gas can and starts fires, 10 already.
I hope they get the idiot, fast.

The pad had a few days time to cure.
Today I purred the concrete for the drain and a little waterfall back into the tub.

As usual I was about a shovel or two short, so I stuck some rocks into it.

Than I took a 90 and formed with the heat gun a spigot. Sprayed it.

To morrow after work I will take the forms of and see what a mess I probably made.

It turned out pretty good. I just hope it works. I will test it maybe tomorrow. I have to haul water for that.

I have been dragging my sorry skinny ars around the last days with one of those nasty little spring colds. I hardly get sick, but if...., yaiks.
I finished the plumbing for the grow beds. Besides the junk and dirt they are ready to go. Just have to cut down the drains and go to the dope shop and get clay pebbles, clean up the tub and than haul water.

Oh forgot the plant thingy and fish thingy which, this is about, in the end.

The fish thingy I have no idea and I hope some of you can give me an idea. I do not care if I can eat it or not.

They have to survive near freezing water and the extremes of the summer, might be able to throw some ice blogs into the tub, or built a chiller.

In the winter a stock tank heater will keep the water liquid, no pump, but a air pump, in the summer with 40 C outside temp, the water will be 20 to 30 easily.

A friend of mine has a coy pond and they survive.

Looks fabulous gnoib. I got sick too. First cold in decades, thanks to immune suppressants I suspect.Thank goodness my sweet lady bought us a lot of organic foods and herbs to alleviate colds.

I think the drought, early very warm temps and the constant high winds is throwing a lot of peoples immune systems of. I do not take any meds, besides whisky and beer, deal with peoples dirty laundry, live on a farm, horses and dogs, am always dirty, from work or from the farm, never get sick, while everybody is sick.
But every 5 or so years, something gets through the fire wall and nocks my skinny ars to the ground.
I just hate it.

I just hope for you that you get that immune system going again, we are about of the same youth and should be able to go strong for many more years. Hope you can do something with diet, them chems just f... you up.

I tested today the built. Just seeing how it works and if everything is sealed.
No leaks and the pump is great. Lowest setting and I have what I wanted. Nice waterfall. Played around with some river wash to direct flow. I installed a small piece of pond tarp as a splash guard, works great, will make it permanent. One thing I have to do, were Fiberglas and concrete meat, I have to put in a seal, concrete silicon, will do the trick. I think I have to lower the drains, by 1 inch.
But that's all I think. The basics work and the rest is play time

Filled the grow beds today. At the dope shop, hydroponics supply, they did not have any clay pebbles but something I think is much better. Its a by product from recycling glass, but it is white. As base I use lava rock and than just top the grow bed of with pebbles. The white stuff will reflect the sun thingies and not absorb so much heat. I like that very much, it was one of my concerns. They just had 2 bags left, they were torn and I got a good price.
Now I let the system run for a day or 2. Than I will plant and start cycling. As ammonia source, I will go out onto the pasture and collect fresh horse manure, put it in a bucket with holes and set it into the tub, have a few beers and take a pee

One of our nurseries has sometimes water/ pond plants will check them out.

I used a bag of that white hydroponic rock in some of my beds too... I mostly just used it as a topper because it's extremely rough sandpaper like surface that I thought might cut / kill fungus gnats in the larva / pupae stages as they crawl around on them. It is a bit rough on the hands when digging through it to plant stuff, but no worse than the lava rock that I'm thinking I'll probably get rid of. After having a bed of hydroton clay balls it's pretty easy to see why it is so popular though because it is so easy to work with.

I use volcanic rock, because of its price. The white stuff is just a cover.
Tuesday is supposed to be my day of. But did not really happened. I had to finish the paper work for my foundation supporting our animal shelter. I hate that paper work stuff. Than I dropped it off at the lawyer. After that an idiot on a motorcycle smashed into the rear of my van and than did a hit and run. I hope his cycle is damaged and he took a wild ride some where. Just a dent, but a pain in the ars. Than of to the shelter and explained to the manager, how things will work. To the insurance and filed the claim.
Went to the nursery and got me some plants, to start the system.
Washed the roots and stuffed them into the beds. Than of to the pasture got some fresh horse manure, made a tee, dumped some into the tub and checked for ammonia an hour later.
All ok.
Just a nother great day in paradise.

Now I have to research fish.
