This gets used more in the cut flower industry to keep the flower stems from falling over and breaking. It will make it more difficult to harvest so there is a trade off.

Good afternoon Cookie. Could you please explain the fluidized sand filter. I would be interested in seeing how that hooks into your current system.

Thanks
Kevin

I am no longer growing plants in my backyard Aquaponics system [LOUDLY CRYING FACE]

So I don't know where to start. I'm not to sure if I should revive this thread. But I thought about it today that it's been 5 years since I first started talking hear. I have learned alot from where I was 5 yrs ago. And backyard AQUAPONICS was the best place for honest information.

As I read through some post.. I realized that alot of former members are no longer active.. Are no longer there to share their wealth of knowledge to assist the aspirations of the upcoming enthusiasts the way I received in the past.

In saying that I'll be informing you that I am no longer growing plants in my backyard Aquaponics system because..

I tore it down to further my dreams in Comercial Aquaponics!! The total system will be over 30000gal with 8000gals dedicated only to filtration.
It's currently in construction as we speak.
So I don't know if I should continue sharing my progress in this thread or.. create a new thread to post my transition from backyard to comercial. What's your thoughtsImageImageImageImage

Great to see Cookie and I'd go for a new thread (with the occasional input into this one every now and then just to keep it alive).
I have to echo Skeggley, "Good luck with the new venture" and I'm keen to watch it grow.
Exciting!

Very happy to see you back and posting!! Your work on mineralization, Anaerobic and Aerobic digestion, etc, was extremely helpful for me.

I cannot wait to see what you're going to turn out, with the knowledge you have regarding nutrient extraction, and the experience of running your own backyard system for several years!

Thank you guys for all the support! I really appreciate it so much. I have took a huge leap of faith to expand so much. Alot of money is already spent.. and Soo much more is needed to give done. But I'm convinced that my 10 years of research will finally pay off. I post some pics of what I grew when I left just to get you all up to date on my development.

Glad it helped you out.. and I'm always here to assist you with your system if needed. Alot has been modified and updated since that time of me documenting my findings. But in time I'll share what I currently use and what I left behind.

Nice work Cookie. I'm glad to see this still in action even though I missed the original thread. I'm tagging along for the ride for the new system!
