PLJ, have you ever thought about a setting up an insect trap above your tank using a light to draw in night-time flying insects to provide your trout with a midnight snack? :shifty:

G'day Danny, it is a great idea to do what you suggest, and Charlie is right - g'day Charlie, I had a bug zapper on a timer set up for that purpose for several years. I didn't employ the bug zapper last season, and don't currently have it set up, because I raised the height of the apex of the netting over the tank and the zapper no longer hangs free of it. I need to construct a new mechanism by which to suspend my trusty 240V zapper, safely, over the tank.

My Slav is coming up to the farm later today and we might get onto it, but if not today, soon. Thanks for the timely prompt.

Bug zapper re-installed! I was prepared to procrastinate on the matter but the Slav got us both straight onto it on her arrival.

By the time we harvested some watercress and left the AP area we could already hear the snap, crackle and pop of the bug zapper as it recommenced claiming countless little insect lives.
