Hi, I love this place, free thought and innovation encouraged within a caring, sharing environment, Family.

I've spent the last couple of months reading, researching and getting a small system running. I started with an old bathtub and juggled time and money from there.

Bought a couple of 150L tubs from "B" and built "LKB" siphons (what a rush!).

Way to go :blob:

Gravel washing in the traditional way, auto siphon builder....yep, definitely passed the AP initiation ceremony :thumbright:

its amazing how much gunk is on "clean" gravel, certainly better not in the system - worth the effort IMHO

EB, you are Welcome. :salute:
Monya, no shortcuts for a starting system, it is nice to know what going in!
AM, already have my eye on the neighbours unused tank....
Steve, maybe a tsp or two LOL, was letting it age before a complete water change.
LKB, you have led the way, tradition maker? culture starter?

Was given 20 crayfish and 3 GP fingerlings, "insert fish kill story".

The only one that survived longer than three days, was found in the wrong tub a week later and died 24 hours after I laid eyes on it. :dontknow: :medusa:?

Decided I was too keen to get everything in place :tard:, so make haste much more slooowwly.

Ahw, bugger. Any idea what might've killed them?

Good luck with your system!
