Added some basil, spring onions (in a net pot in the growbed) and some red onions.

Sudden cold front last week really screwed with the cycling.

Date / ph /ammonium / nitrite / nitrate
01-09-2015 / 7.8 / 0.25 / 5+/ 5
05-09-2015 / 7.8 / 0.25 / 5 / 10
10-09-2015 / 7.8 / 0.25 / 2 / 15

Added 1kg pool salt this afternoon for the fish I'm getting tomorrow.

Not fully cycled yet and will test tomorrow morning again. Hoping the nitrites come down some more.

Water temp this afternoon @ 15:00 was 20.7°C

Seeing some green algae (maybe some brown too) in my tank, so will invest in some reeds to cover the sides from the sun and make it more pleasing to the eye.

The brown might be bio-film or maybe just be me hoping that it's bio-film.

Tilapia should assist with eating some algae.

No they will eat all algae, bio film and anything else they can find, they even have the ability to syphon it out of the water, particles down to low microns in size.

A week later and the pea soup is nice and clear.

Date / ph /ammonium / nitrite / nitrate

27-09-2015 / 7.8 / 0 / 0 / 80
28-09-2015 / 7.8 / 0 / 0 / 40

Will be connecting the filter to the SLO before the growbeds.

Might get rid of all the filter material inside the filter and change it to a radial filter with a single layer of filter material before the outlet.

I approve of drinking red wine + aquaponics on one condition...

Is the wine from the best place in the world to be named SA? South Australia?
