the bio filter has 2in of aquarium gravel and 2 old pillows and a bag of styrofoam.

The pump emptys the can in 1min, every hour the grow pipes are feed via gravity from a outlet at the bottom of the tank. It works out at a slow continuas feed

it may be a white elephant but we may just not have enough information to decide what color it truly is.
The following is to help me understand all the goodies you have goin on.
It appears to be an nft system with koi carp as the fish and a biological filter to remove particulate matter and house the bacteria for the conversion.

Okay now the questions that i would be looking at the most.
How many karp?
What size filter? eg if this was a normal old style aquarium would the filter you have be large enough to cope with the load you are placing on it

Am I right in assuming NFT or is it maybe an aeropnics system?
How long has it been going for and what time of year is it there?

the problems are that i am hungry, every plant i put in the system dies.

I havent changed the water from the 18 sep and i feed a tea spoon of feed each day.

Give us ALL the spes please CG.

number of fish

system start date

have you tested ammonia / nitrite / nitrate / PH? If so can you list those please

leaves look very yellow, although this could be an iron deficiency, i think that severe lack of nitrogen will also do this.

It may be as simple as your system not having cycled yet and there fore not producing nitrates to feed the plants.

Look at VB's (and others) system, you should be able to see him sitting on top of that elephant in the back ground :)

Yup its nft

As for the koi there are a breeding pair 11in long and 16 3in young ones

ALL the particulate matter is catched in the filter at the end of the pipes in the first pick, thats before the bio fillter.

I live in the tropics, the only major change in the weather is rain or no rain.

the bio fillter has 2in of aquarium gravel on the bottom 2 old pillows(you know the kind you sleep on at night) and a foot ball size bag of styrofoam

Havent done no tests.
