Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has tried pearl chicklids in AP. It appears that they are not illegal in Western Australia. I would describe them as being like tilapia in fancy dress . they seem to breed well in small ponds so once you have some you should be okay. I lost all of my trout this year so I am trying these to see how I go. I am not sure why I lost my trout and silver perch but some gold fish and koi are doing well in the same water. The pearls are doing alright at the moment but I have had to heat the water for them. My tanks are ten degrees colder than the pond that I got them from. I put two in the tank and they both died so I have the rest in a aquarium with a small heater. I will put them in a bigger tank when the weather warms up. They are in all the streams and lakes around Perth and if you want some you just have to give the local kids some pocket money and they will get them for you. tilapia are banned in Western Australia and it was a man in TAFE who is trying to eradicate them who suggested that I try these as they are not illegal now.
